What are your super powers?
![]() Space Ghost can be a little hard to take- a whole DVD of the Ghost can be overwhelming. That said, I would hate for you to think I do not like SG- I do. But he is like, uh, fine chocolate, best enjoyed in small quantities, parceled out a bit at a time. |

![]() Space Ghost is a super hero from the 60's, resurrected in the mid 1990's into a quasi-talk-show for Cartoon Networks Adult Swim. Thin on plot and thinner on content, it is funny the first show or two, but wears thin after three or four episodes. About the only thing that can save each show- a guest- are usually limited to a mnute or two of highly-edited content. So if you've seen a couple shows, you've seen them all.
![]() Regular Space Ghost villains- Moltar and Zorak- also appear on the show, as a director and musical director. They are comic foils really, and do not add a whole lot to the show. The theme song is a lot of fun... again, the first or second times you hear it.
![]() Despite all this, it is fun show. Watch a couple episodes, and come back in a couple weeks for the next couple shows... that is how to watch SG:C2C.
![]() The DVD contains all 26 episodes of season three (1997-8) on two disks. Sound is stereo. Nice, easily navigable menus with (and this is nice compared to the bare-bones Universal Season sets) episode list and synopsis in the slip case. There are few uncut interviews with some of the guests; you miss nothing by skipping them (unless you like the Banana Splits.)
![]() One very nice surprise on disk two is the First Annual World Premiere Toon Off, which pits cartoons by the likes of Genndy Tartakovsky, Craig McCracken, Pat Ventura, Eugene Mattos and Van Partible. They- and their cartoons- are judged by the SG Council Of Doom. Worth a look, if you can handle 20 minutes of SG in one helping! On my scale of avoid, rent or buy, I would probably avoid, unless you are a big fan.. |
